A longworth chuck makes it easier to rechuck bowls and platters etc allowing light shaping, sanding and finishing as well as removing the tenon. Clamps in standard 50mm scroll chuck jaws. Eliminates the time and hassle of removing standard jaws to refit and adjust cole jaws.
This is a 300mm longworth style chuck and will hold anything from 90mm diameter to 255mm in compression. Can also be used in expansion. These are self centring chucks.
Comes with 8 M6 bolts; rubber bungs; all necessary steel washers and heat shrink fitted on bolt ends to stop the wing nuts falling off.
Lightly hold bowl on the chuck with tailstock.
Turn plates to tighten.
Tighten wingnuts on rear.
check bowl is secure.
Do not use above 600 RPM
Engage the tailstock whenever possible.
Observe lathe safety.DO NOT SLOW OR STOP THE CHUCK BY HAND.
DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING BEHIND THE CHUCK, WHILE IN MOTION.
Custom buttons can also be turned to hold specific items.
